Jacy James Anderson’s debut record. Blackout Poetry, is a culmination of his struggles with anxiety and self-doubt, carrying a message of hope and healing framed against a society of uncertainty, violence, and fleeting connection.

Recorded at The Blasting Room with producer Andrew Berlin (2020 Grammy Nominee, Best Folk Album, Gregory Alan Isakov’s Evening Machines), and mastered by multi-Grammy Award winner Greg Calbi (most recently for 2019 Album of the Year, Kacey Musgraves, Golden Hour), Blackout Poetry is a meditation on what it means to sit with hope, hurt, and anxiety in the modern-day. From the first mournful swells of Hollow, to the final fluttering notes of The Wave of Panic, the listener is asked to look inward – to narrow the spotlight on their own humanity – and to reflect on how we treat ourselves, and in turn the world around us.

Blackout Poetry debuts on all streaming platforms on October 23rd, 2020.

“If you’re looking for another artist to blare alongside the rest of your “Too Real” Spotify playlist favorites, then Anderson’s raw and refreshingly vulnerable sound will probably become an easy, new favorite “Top 5” jam. With comparisons ranging from Leonard Cohen and Noah Gundersen to Gillian Welch and Gregory Alan Isakov, this singer-songwriter is definitely not one to sleep on out of the gate.”

“If you could describe a distinct scent using sound, Jacy James Anderson takes you on a hike across Colorado plains and over the highest mountains. Capturing sensations of cool, crisp, pine infused fog, to the warmth of the setting sun. You can almost hear the patter of cold mountain rain, the crackle of a campfire, and the feeling of ending the day under a clear, starlit sky. Jacy James Anderson is the Indie-Folk-Americana Singer-Songwriter encompassing the natural, raw beauty that is, Colorado.”
